VAT rate change

As of 4 January 2011 the UK VAT rate is 20%.

In theory changing your Sage 50 VAT rate to 20% is simply a case of changing the VAT code currently set to 17.5% to 20%:

VAT code screen Sage 50
  • Select Tools menu
  • > Configuration
  • > Select Tax Codes tab
  • > Select default tax code (normally T1)
  • Select Edit
  • Change Rate from 17.5 to 20 then select OK
  • Select Apply
  • Select Close

The above instructions show you how to change the VAT rate. Before making immediate VAT code changes, you should consider how you will deal with sales invoices dated before 4/1/11 which have still to be updated, or purchases at 17.5% VAT which have still to be entered onto your system.
