Adding custom Sage layouts

When we create a custom Sage layout for you, such as a custom invoice or delivery note, we send you the completed file by email.

This file will need to be moved to your Sage layouts folder.

On a stand alone Sage system, this location will probably be in the same place as your Sage installation. On network versions this location could be on your own computer, OR on a network location.

The layout file goes into the folder called "Layouts"

Newer versions of Sage 50 use the file extension .layout, older versions will use a file extension .sly (for invoice and other sales ledger layouts), but in both cases the folder name remains as Layouts.

Finding the location of your Sage layouts:

• Select an existing invoice from the invoice list which has already been printed
• Click Print button
• Select the layout you normally use
• Click Edit button - the report editor will open
• Select Save As from the file menu - this will show you the location of your current Sage layout files
• Make a note of this location
• Select Cancel, then Exit report generator to return to Sage
• Close Sage report window - but you can leave Sage running if you like
• Open My Computer (or right click Start button and select Explore)
• Navigate to the location of your layout files
• The new layout file can be dragged from the attachment straight into your layout folder.
• When you next select the Print button from your invoice list, the new invoice layout should appear on the list
