Our main stock is held in a warehouse and dispatch centre in Manchester. We work Monday to Friday, and orders processed by 12 noon are normally dispatched the same day. We make a big effort to process and dispatch all orders as efficiently as possible, but we are realistic on what can be achieved within a given time. Placing an order at 1 pm on a Friday afternoon and needing guaranteed delivery by 9am on Monday Morning will be a touch and go task.
For some international orders, and for non-standard locations we may dispatch from our own office or arrange our own carriage to collect from our warehouse.
We can provide proof of delivery details on request. Some carriers (hello TNT) provide very brief POD notes with not much information.
We recognise that nobody likes paying for carriage, however paper is surprisingly heavy and bulky product when securely packed. For smaller orders we operate on a cost recovery basis - what we pay in dispatch charges is what we charge you. This allows us to dispatch quicker than if we were sending from our own office. Our warehousing carries a cost for picking each order, plus the carrier charges. At present this costs us a fraction under £12 per dispatch for up to 5 boxes. We charge you £12 per order. As a thank you, we try to offer free carriage on orders over a certain value.
Custom orders normally come with free carriage as we can dispatch directly to you from production, saving labour, transport and carbon emissions. For larger custom orders of multiple pallets we cost on a case by case basis as pallet charges vary depending on destination, time of year and quantity of pallets.
We can offer a guaranteed 9am and 12 noon delivery option, but the cut off point for confirmed orders is 10.30 AM Monday to Friday. If you need this please ask, and we can give you a cost within 20 minutes.
Our stated carriage costs are for UK mainland locations served by standard courier services.
Most orders go out on DPD or TNT. We pay for a next day service, but this isn't guaranteed, so we normally say two day delivery to be on the safe side. The UK courier delivery network is based on an unsustainable model reliant on low paid workers working very long hours with unreasonable contract conditions. We wish this was not the case. The system works for a lot of the time, but a feature of the design of the system is that the carriers know that a percentage of deliveries will fail. This is a theoretical risk until it happens to your delivery. We do everything in our power to sort out problems when they arise, and will keep you informed of our efforts to find out what is happening to your delivery. Until carrier industry conditions change, and customers accept that goods do not move magically at no cost, we are stuck with this delivery model.
Being an island based business, the irony is not lost on us that carriage to non-mainland locations is expensive. By the carriers definition non-UK mainland includes easily accessible places like the Isle of Wight, bridge connected islands like the Isle of Skye and places like rural Aberdeenshire.
We have shipped paper all over Europe, from Iceland to Greece and Malta as well as Ireland, Switzerland and Belgium to name but a few.
All export and international shipping is quoted on a case by case basis. Shipping to Ireland is fairly reasonable, other destinations, especially for larger quantities can be very expensive - often more than the cost of the paper itself. If you want GBP120 worth of paper, and are ok with GBP100 carriage, we can help. Our standard INCOTERMS are DAP, delivery at place. That means you pay any local taxes and duties.
We no longer ship to Northern Ireland. After the Windsor Agreement was implemented we tried, but the requirements of carriers, and the extra administration to meet ongoing HMRC "export" requirements means it just isn't worth the effort. Sorry about that.
All UK carriage charges are subject to VAT at the current rate of 20%.
